Doug is a veteran Certified Financial Planner with over 20 years of professional experience in advising clients in the areas such as wealth management, short and long term planning, and private placement investments.

As an Investment Manager for a leading Fortune 500 financial services firm, Doug earned great respect and a tremendous reputation as a trusted advisor. He ranked in the top 1% of all financial advisors in the firm, placing him on the prestigious President's Advisory Council for 10 years in a row.

In August of 2008, acting on his vision of success and commitment to customer service, Doug founded VW Advisors, LLC, an independent financial advisory firm. Doug has pioneered and implemented his, "Simple Yet Inevitable Wealth Creation" system, which guides his clients in mastering the art of reaching their financial potential. In addition to his role as an investment manager, Doug is also involved in venture capital endeavors.

Doug's notoriety and expertise in the financial industry has led to him being featured in the Wall Street Journal and he is often quoted in other financial publications.

In his personal time, Doug is an accomplished triathlete who has competed in many events around the world, including more than ten of the prestigious "Ironman" Triathlons. Ironman triathlons consist of a 2.4 mile swim, then 112 miles of biking followed by 26.2 miles of running. He can occasionally be seen conducting a business meeting with his associates while training on his bicycle or jogging.

Doug is happily married to his wife, Dawn, and together they have three active children, Emma, Grace, and J.D.

Bill joined VW Advisors in 2008 as an Advisor and Investment Manager, bringing with him over twenty years of experience in the financial services and employee benefits arena.

Prior to joining VW Advisors, Bill spent nearly twelve years as the Benefits Director at the Iowa Association of Electric Cooperatives, where he was responsible for managing multi-million dollar employee pension and group insurance programs. Prior to that, Bill was employed for nearly ten years at Principal Financial Group as a retirement plan administrator and consultant. More recently he has been an independent financial planning consultant.

Throughout his career, Bill has conducted financial planning and retirement seminars for both large and small groups. At these seminars he has consistently emphasized the importance of the same cost-efficient, independent financial advice that VW Advisors offers its clients. Bill also has significant experience working with Social Security and Medicare, helping to guide people through a highly bureaucratic and regulatory process.

Bill is a Certified Financial Planner™ professional as authorized by the Certified Financial Planning (CFP) Board. Such planning professionals have completed the established and rigorous education, examination, experience and ethical requirements of the CFP® certification process. Additionally, Bill is a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) as designated by the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and is a past-president of the ISCEBS-Des Moines Chapter.

A resident of Urbandale, Iowa, Bill enjoys spending time with his wife Cindy and daughters Jennifer, Haley, and Samantha. When his family tires of him, Bill can usually be found pursuing his next favorite activities, golfing and biking.

Dawn manages the compliance and operational components for VW Advisors.

She graduated from ISU with a degree in Finance. Previously, Dawn worked for General Mills and The Principal Financial Group in the Commercial Real Estate Investment Division. As a regional asset manager for Principal, she managed large real estate portfolios in California, Florida, and Arizona.

Working for VW Advisors has been a perfect fit for Dawn because it melds her education and her experience with her desire to help clients gain peace of mind as it relates to their finances. She lives in West Des Moines with her husband, Doug, their three active children, and their three funny dogs.

Dawn is heavily involved with local and international charities, including Kingdom Cares International and Neighbors in Need.

Brenda joined VW Advisors June 2011. Brenda manages client service relations.

She graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Criminology and a minor in Psychology. Previously, Brenda worked for Iowa Association of Electric Cooperatives and Iowa Hospital Association.

Commitment with honesty and integrity as the backbone to serving clients is one of many strengths Brenda brings to VW Advisors.

Brenda lives in Grimes with her son, Sal and daughter, Andrea and their yellow Labrador, Syd.

When Brenda has free time, she likes to spend it with her kids, family and friends. She also spends time advocating for her daughter with special needs.
